Richard A. Brownell

Richard A. Brownell, 82, of Glastonbury, husband of the late Judith (Monaco) Brownell, passed peacefully into Jesus’ arms on Wednesday July 5, 2017 at the Fox Hill Center. Born May 18, 1935 in Glen Ridge, NJ, son of the late Amos C. and Hazel E. (Kroll) Brownell, he was raised in Manchester and had lived in Glastonbury since 1984. Prior to his retirement, he was a Director at Travelers Insurance Co. Richard was a graduate of UCONN, a member of the Trinity Covenant Church, and a volunteer with the Glastonbury Memorial Day parade.  He enjoyed golfing and boating, but most of all he loved spending time with his beloved family and friends. Richard is survived by his son and daughter-in-law James and Suzanne Brownell of Vernon, 2 daughters Susan Brownell of Rochester, NY, Jennifer Genung and her husband Tony of Springfield, VT, a stepson Todd Zurman of Glastonbury, four grandchildren Caleb and Erin Brownell and Eric and Elizabeth Stahl, a sister-in-law Carol Brownell of CO, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Marvin C. Brownell. Funeral service will be Tuesday July 11 at 11am in the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, South Glastonbury. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday July 10 from 5-7pm.
