Obituary of Russell Bantley

Russell L. Bantly, 93, of Glastonbury, husband of the late Ethel (Carl) Bantly, died Monday January 10, 2011 at Glastonbury Health Care. Born September 27, 1917 in Glastonbury, son of the late Francis and Amelia (Birth) Bantly, he was a lifelong resident. Prior to his retirement in 1977 he was a postal supervisor with the U.S. Postal Office. Mr. Bantly was a life member of the East Glastonbury Fish and Game Club in Marlborough and had served for 21 years as an artillery officer in the Army Reserve retiring with the rank of Major. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Leigh E. and Catherine Bantly of South Glastonbury, a sister Edna Clark of Somers, 2 grandchildren and their spouses Elliot and Karen Cyr, David and Audrey Bantly, 2 great grandchildren Miranda Mae Cyr, Nathan Harris Cyr, 6 nephews, Ronald Stomberg of Ellington, Robert Stomberg of Somers, Steven Bantly, Joel Bantly, David Bantly, James Bantly all in California and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers Everett Bantly and Dwight Bantly. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Laurel Gardens and Glastonbury Health Care for their care and compassion shown to Russell. Funeral and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
