Obituary of David Joseph Elliott

David Joseph Elliott, husband of Joanne Kinnane Elliott and father of Benjamin Francis Elliott, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 3, 2016 surrounded by his family. David was born on March 20, 1953 in Hartford, CT to Walter and Genevieve (Grady) Elliott. A Wethersfield native, David graduated from Wethersfield High School, the University of Connecticut, cum laude, and Suffolk University Law School, cum laude. Following law school, David served as law clerk for The Honorable Joseph S. Longo of the Supreme Court of Connecticut and then began a thirty-seven year career as an attorney and partner at Day, Berry & Howard LLP / Day Pitney LLP. He was an adjunct professor for the University of Connecticut School of Law from 1979 through 1990. Throughout his distinguished legal career, with his keen intellect, David earned numerous accolades as a leader in the legal profession both locally and nationally. David and his family made their home in Glastonbury where he was often found on the tennis court or golf course. Prior to pursuing a career in the law, he was given the opportunity of a professional music career. While he chose legal precedent over rock-and-roll, music was always a part of his life. David played in numerous bands, always at the front of the stage with his guitar in hand. He was a lover of people and an ardent supporter of the New York Yankees and UConn Huskies. David is survived by his wife, son, and daughter-in-law Alyssa Mason Elliott of Boston, MA; his brothers John S. Elliott of Wethersfield and Robert M. Elliott of Deep River; and his sister Susan Carroll of Wilmington, MA. David was predeceased by his parents and sister Mary Beth Tiano. Calling hours are 4-7 pm, Thursday, October 6 at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. A funeral mass followed by burial will take place at St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Road, South Glastonbury on Friday, October 7 at 10 am.
