Obituary of Beverly A. Walton

Beverly A. Walton, 85 of Glastonbury, beloved wife of John W. Walton, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2016. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on March 15, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Esther Arzt. Beverly was a 1948 graduate of Pawtucket High School in Rhode Island and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and Math in 1952 from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. In 1973 Beverly began her career at the Mental Health Association of Connecticut (currently Mental Health Connecticut) which she would grow into a large, multi-faceted state agency. She retired in 2008 as their President and CEO. She was 78 at the time of retirement. Beverly held a huge love for politics. As a strong supporter of Former Governor Ella T. Grasso, she was very active in the League of Women Voters where she was the founder of the Southeast Chester, PA City Branch and subsequently became an officer and Lobbyist of the League of Women Voters in Hartford. She was also an active member of the Glastonbury Republican Town Committee. In addition to her successful career and love for political involvement, Beverly was an avid reader of mystery novels, an active member of the Mount Holyoke Alumni Association, a Board Member of the Child and Family Services (currently Village for Children and Families), and a devoted and loving grandmother. Beverly is survived by her husband of 62 years, John, three daughters Susan Perrault of Salem, NH, Anne (Gary) Constantine of South Glastonbury, and Carol (James) Breen also of South Glastonbury. She is also survived by her seven beautiful grandchildren, Kevin Constantine of East Hampton, Bryan Constantine of Wethersfield, Jillian Constantine of South Glastonbury, Eric Perrault of Salem, NH, Kelsey Perrault of Salem, NH and Sarah and Andrew Breen both of South Glastonbury. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life to be held at the Congregational Church of South Glastonbury on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Village for Children and Families – http://thevillage.org/give/give-now/ or Mental Health Connecticut – www.mhconn.org.
