Obituary of Gloria D. Pell

Gloria D. Pell, 90, of Glastonbury died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Hartford Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Noemi (Valzacchi) and Guido Luccardi. She was born in Bronx New York, then the family moved to Montenars, Italy, returning to United States when she was seven years old, only speaking Italian, but quickly learning English. She was a loving mother, her children and grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the most important part of her life. She enjoyed her travels to Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and San Diego. Gloria was an avid reader and kept up with the current news and politics daily, always sharing her opinion and bits of information with us all. She loved to learn, cutting out articles and doing research to help her friends and family. She had an amazing memory putting most of us to shame. She loved her cookies and chocolate only in moderation, as she was an advocate of health and fitness and taught us all the importance of exercise and nutrition on a regular basis. An amazing seamstress, creating beautiful clothing over the years until her hands became too sore. She was a tireless shopper and was meticulous with her clothing. Gloria always put others first and believed that we should always do the best that we can, no matter what the circumstances. Her motto, we need to laugh every day and always have a smile ready. We will miss her smiling face and her visits to our office at General with her beloved 1993 Toyota Camry. She is survived by her daughter and son- in- law, Gail and Joseph Melzen, her son and daughter- in- law, Jeffrey Pell and Carol-Ann Pelligrinelli all of Glastonbury, her grandchildren, Paul Melzen and his wife Katie, Thomas Melzen and his wife Amy, Scott Pelligrinelli, Jeffrey Pelligrinelli, Gina Pelligrinelli and her great grandchildren, Victoria Melzen, Joseph Melzen III, Fiona Melzen and Charlie Melzen. She was predeceased by two sisters, Julia Iuliano and Evelyn Console. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 27, at 10am in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Everyone should meet directly at church. Burial will be private at a later date. Family and friends may call at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury on Sunday, March 26 from 1-3 pm.
