Obituary of Thomas Trahan

Thomas Trahan, 65, of Glastonbury, left this world unexpectedly on July 5, 2017.  Born August 6, 1951, son of the late Rose (Chalany) and Herman Trahan.  He worked for many years in the refrigeration business and was employed for the past several years by the University of Connecticut as a Senior Plant Engineer.  He first met his beloved wife Cheryl (Johnson) when they were just in high school.  At the age of 16 he told her they would be married and happy together for “all of time”.  They were together for nearly 50 years and married for 44 years.  He loved Cape Cod and spending any time of year at the home he and Cheryl have there.  He could fix or build anything you could think of and there was always a project in the works.  He loved talking with anyone and everyone and was interested in everything.  His favorite time was at the end of the day when he would sit on the deck, he built, with Cheryl and a glass of wine and watch the birds and wildlife and look over the gardens he designed. Besides his wife he is survived by his two daughters whom he was extremely proud; Sarah Kimball and her husband Ray of Glastonbury and Erica Trahan of East Hartford.  He leaves the grandchildren he adored, Bailey and Cooper Kimball along with an estranged granddaughter Delaney Kimball.  He also leaves his brother Gerald Trahan and wife Michaelinda, sister Janet Marshall, sister in law Barbara Najarian, and sister in law Dorothea Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.  He was pre-deceased by his brother-in-law Richard Johnson. Additionally, he leaves countless friends, neighbors, and extended family including Jim Bidwell and Donna Rand. Funeral services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Glastonbury Food Bank or The Glastonbury Fuel Bank, 300 Welles St., Glastonbury, CT 06033 (please make checks out to Town of Glastonbury).  For online condolences, please visit mulryanfh.com.
