Obituary of Harry Stanley Mott

Surrounded by his children and his beloved sister, Harry Stanley Mott, 85 years of age, of Glastonbury, CT, passed away August 17, 2017.  Born in Springfield, MA, April 14, 1932, to Harry Samuel Mott and Grace Eleanor Carr, Harry was an athlete in his youth and throughout his life exceeding in soccer and baseball.  He was a runner, a third degree black belt in Kyokushin Karate and was one of the first western students of Master Matsutatsu Oyama.  He also loved the Boston Red Sox and was an avid fan of women’s UCONN basketball.  It was at Glastonbury High School he met the love of his life, Holly Taylor.  Together they raised 8 children, all of whom could be heard singing during car rides home from Columbia Lake and their Nanny’s farm.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, attached to the 82nd Airborne, 508th division, where he made over 32 jumps.  He was proud of his service to our country, who thanked him with the National Defense Service Medal.  He was predeceased by his wife, his parents, his brother, Howard Earl Mott, his son-in-law, Joseph Daddario, and his grandson, Brian Garry Albert.  He is survived by his sister, Grace Paradise of Jacksonville, FL; his children: Jondahl of S. Glastonbury; Holly (Stephen) Dudley of Hornell, NY; Darcy of S. Glastonbury; Kelly Mott-Sacks (Paul) of Summit, NJ; Malin Daddario of Glastonbury; Tracy (Garry) Albert of Manchester; Harry (Andrea) of S. Glastonbury; and Grace (Rick) Mason of Cazenovia, NY; Grandchildren:  Liz Meotti ; Luke, Beau (Nicole Jameson), Owen Dudley; Ally, Cooper, Isabelle Sacks; Joseph (Heather), Nick Daddario; Danielle (Nick) Perry; Olivia, Ava Mott; Mikayla, Liam Mason; Great-grandchildren;  Javon and Jaide Hodge; Madeline and Robby Olwert; Desmond and Roland Perry; many nieces, nephews, and friends.  The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Neuro-Trauma unit at Hartford Hospital for their diligent work with Harry.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 22 at 10am in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
