Jane Daddario Sleath, 90, of Glastonbury passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021. Born in New Rochelle, New York to Rosalie (O’Brien) and George Francis Broderick, Jane had one brother, Paul Broderick, who died at age 3 before she was born. Tragically she lost her parents at a very young age and was adopted by her aunt Rena (Broderick) Collins and Francis (Frank) Collins who lovingly raised her in New Rochelle. She attended The Ursuline School followed by The College of Mt. St. Vincent, a small women’s college which included Corazon Aquino (first female president of the Philippines) as one of her classmates. It was there she earned her BS in English. Rounding out her academic career she completed her Master of Science in Education from Hunter College in NY. She spent her early adult life in New York as an English teacher until moving to CT and starting a family. While never returning full-time to teaching, she always lent her skills to academic and religious classrooms throughout her remaining years. Jane married her first love, Arnold Daddario of Schenectady, NY in 1961. Pratt & Whitney brought them to Connecticut where they had 3 sons. A loving mother who spent every moment supporting her children’s year-round sports, hobbies, and many-many musical endeavors. Losing Arnold to cancer in 1975 Jane raised the boys on her own. Following Arnold’s illness, Jane immersed herself in the study of nutrition, promoting its benefits and eventually selling it as a Shaklee representative. In 1981 Jane found love again and married B. Kent Sleath (deceased) and lived happily together until his death in 2017. Jane and Kent split their time between Glastonbury and their lake house in Lebanon, CT which they eventually retired to. They enjoyed traveling, gardening, family reunions, and most importantly, their grandchildren. Their final years were spent at The Village At South Farms in Middletown, CT. Always active in her church, Jane was a devout Catholic who lived her life as taught by Jesus and inspired others to do the same. She is survived by her 3 sons who were born so close together that she lovingly referred to them as her “triplets on the installment plan”, and their families; Peter Daddario of East Hampton, Dr. Robert Daddario and Daniele of Osprey, FL, Thomas and Lisa Daddario of East Berlin. Additionally her step-daughters Susan Burgdorf and husband David, Sharon Fentner and husband Paul, and step-son Andy Sleath. Jane had 7 grandchildren that she adored; Jared, Hannah, Mathieu, Juliette, Sarah, Julia, and Dylan. She was blessed to play an active role in each of their lives and was so proud of them. They brought incredible joy to her life. The family wishes to thank the amazing, compassionate staff at The Village At South Farms as well as Visiting Angels (Finnisha). We found so much comfort knowing she was in your care. Family and friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Tuesday , February 9, 2021 from 5-7 pm.
