Kevin Feeney, 83, passed away peacefully at home on March 12, 2026. Kevin, known as “Papa” to his friends and family, was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia “Memee,” with whom he shared 55 wonderful years of marriage.
Kevin was born on June 5, 1942, in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Tom and Patricia Feeney. He attended grade school in West Hartford and later graduated from Loomis Chaffee School. He went on to study at Boston College and the University of Hartford, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in Taxation.
Prior to completing his studies, Kevin joined the National Guard, where he was stationed at Fort Dix and Fort Sam Houston for basic and medic training. In 1968, he began his public accounting career with Blum, Gavens & Kaplan in West Hartford. Soon after, he joined Bill Affleck at a small accounting firm in Glastonbury. Kevin later purchased the practice and proudly went into business for himself.
In 1977, Kevin purchased a home and moved across the river to establish roots in Glastonbury, where he built a life centered around family, community, and friendship. He was a proud member of the Rotary Club for five decades and had the honor of serving as President from 1986–1987. He was also a member of the Irish American Home Society, where he enjoyed traditional Irish music, laughter, and sharing a pint with great company.
Kevin had a deep love of reading and could easily lose himself in a book. He was an active member of both the Irish Book Club and Poetry Club, where he brought wisdom, humor, and thoughtful conversation to monthly gatherings. He also cherished morning breakfasts with his Glastonbury Coffee Shop group—a tradition that lasted more than 40 years. Kevin could always be found on the sidelines, wearing his Red Sox hat, proudly cheering on his children and grandchildren in their many activities.
In 1980, Kevin purchased a condo in Vermont, where he spent more than 40 years skiing with family, friends, and neighbors. Summers there were filled with fire pits, community projects, and shared dinners.
Kevin was also an avid golfer who loved teaching his family the game. He earned an Expert Rules Certification from the USGA and was a member of Glastonbury Hills Country Club, Shuttle Meadow Country Club, the Quarry Ridge Thursday Night League (“TNL,” as he called it), and frequently played with the Men’s Club at Wintonbury Hills. At every stop along the way, Kevin made lasting friendships and built strong relationships. Some of his most cherished trips were golfing in Ireland with family and close friends.
Above all else, Kevin was a devoted family man. He married the love of his life, Patricia, in 1969. She was the reason his heart beat—a love that was clear to everyone who knew them. It brings comfort to know they are together again.
Kevin (“Papa”) is survived by his two sons: Patrick and Cathie Feeney of Glastonbury, and Brendan and Patti Feeney of Southington; and by his four beloved grandchildren: Michael and Kiley Feeney of Glastonbury, and Kevin and Colin Feeney of Southington. Anyone who knew Papa knew his grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to say how proud he was of them.
Kevin is also survived by his sister, Patricia “Dede” Fontana of Canton, CT, his sister Brenda Whyte of Beaverton, OR and his brother, Tad Feeney of Huntsville, AL
