Obituary of Clara G. Hintz

Clara Gloria Hintz 92 (formerly of Glastonbury, CT) passed away peacefully at Sturgill Hospice House on January 11, 2025.

She was born in Milwaukee WI, October 3,1932. There she met and married her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 46 years, Gerald Hintz, who passed in 2001.

Clara devoted her life to the care of her husband and family. She is survived by her daughters Lynn Compton of Deering, NH and Susan Hoffman of Springhill, Fl.; sons Paul Hintz of Portland, CT and David Hintz of East Hartford, CT. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren of whom she adored.

True to her Polish Catholic roots, she had strong family values and religious beliefs. Her Catholic faith was the backbone of her life and was dedicated to the church. She was actively involved in every church community where she lived serving as church secretary, president of the women’s guild, choir member, and catechism teacher to young communicants well into her 70’s.

She was an avid golfer and despite her small stature won many club championships with her solid drives and perfect putts. Her many interests included gardening, traveling, sewing, bowling, and puzzles.

Most of all she will be remembered for her generous smile and sweet soprano voice.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 10:00 am at SS. Isidore and Maria Parish in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury.
