

Obituary of Frederick T. Skripol, Jr.
Fred Skripol left this life and entered into the eternal arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 2, 2025 at Middlesex Hospital Critical Care Unit with family members by his side. Fred was 81 years old. His faith in God played a significant role in his life, and before moving back to CT he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portland, ME. He was a compassionate and kind person who always cared about others first. He will be truly missed by family and friends.
Fred was born in Manchester CT on Jan. 22, 1944 to Frederick Sr. and Anna (Ackerman) Skripol. He grew up in Windsor Locks CT and attended Windsor Locks High School, and then Porter School of Engineering Design in Rocky Hill. His first jobs were with the Fuller Brush Co. and the Boeing Company in Seattle WA. After a few years, he returned to New England and settled in Mechanic Falls, ME, where he began his 30-year career in Telecommunications as a Field Engineer with ATT/MCI/Verizon East, retiring in 2009. He also served in the Connecticut Air National Guard, 103rd Fighter Group for over 10 years.
Telecommunications and electronics carried over to Freddy’s personal interests. He was a HAM radio operator with the call sign WA1SKP, a member of the Androscoggin Radio Club and was a team member for the Androscoggin County CERT. Freddie was an avid outdoorsman and always ready to go fishing or camping no matter the season. For many years he was a member of the Androscoggin County Fish and Game and Norway-Paris Fish and Game Assns. One of his proudest moments came in 1977 when he earned his private pilot license from the FAA. He had a passion for flight and enjoyed flying family and friends around New England. He was a longtime member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assn.
Freddie is survived by three siblings: Robert and his wife Sharon of Glastonbury, David and his wife Joan of Fulshear, TX, and Betty Fitzgerald and her husband Robert of Hebron, He is also survived by eight nephews and nieces: Lori Baker, Robert Skripol Jr., Jennifer Laws, Mark Skripol, David Skripol Jr, Bethany Skripol, Elizabeth Fitzgerald, and Katherine Fitzgerald.
Funeral Services will be held at Mulryan Funeral Home in Glastonbury, and will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial, with full military honors, will take place at the Glastonbury Veteran’s Cemetery on Neipsic Road. For online condolences, please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
