Celebration of Life
Obituary of Lance A. Mazur
Lance A. Mazur, 73, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Clare (Dresser) Mazur for 51 wonderful years.
Born in Hartford, Lance was the son of the late Anthony and Yvonne (Snay) Mazur. He grew up in Bloomfield and proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard, embodying a lifelong dedication to service and integrity.
A devoted family man, Lance always put others before himself. He was a pillar of strength and kindness, known for his unwavering work ethic—values he instilled in his children. For many years, he and Clare owned and operated wholesale and retail greenhouses, cultivating not just plants but also lasting relationships within the community. Later, Lance joined the Glastonbury Public Schools, where he held various positions before rising to Director of Facilities, a role he served in until his well-earned retirement.
Beyond his professional life, Lance had a deep love for nature and the ocean, finding solace in their beauty. He was a lifelong member of the Bloomfield Fish & Game Club, a place that held special meaning to him since childhood. An avid traveler, he embraced new experiences and the joy of exploring the world with his family.
Lance will be deeply missed by his wife, Clare; his daughter, Clare J. Mazur; his son, Clinton A. Mazur, and his wife, Bonnie; and his cherished grandchildren, Kane, Alex, and Campbell Mazur, all of Glastonbury. He is also survived by his sister, Leslie A. Mazur of Simsbury. He leaves a loving family of cousins and friends and his trusty K9 Butters.
A Celebration of Lance’s Life will be held on March 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Glastonbury Boat House, 252 Welles St, Glastonbury, CT 06033. Burial will take place privately. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ascend Scholarship to benefit the continuing education of Connecticut foster youth (www.cafafct.org or CAFAF Ascend, 2189 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067), or to the Glastonbury Food Bank (300 Welles St, Glastonbury, CT 06033).
Lance was a man of few words but great integrity, and his quiet strength and steadfast love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
