I just learned today of Laura’s passing. She was a great friend of my Aunt Lisa’s who lives in Connecticut. I am Lisa’s nephew from Massachusetts. She was my Facebook friend and often we talked about her job working at ESPN and working with the camera crew in Bristol. This comes as a big shock and surprise to me given I didn’t even know she was even sick. Wow.

My sweet friend,
The courage you have shown these last several months has been remarkable. Every time we spoke, no matter how terrible you were feeling, there was a smile in your voice, forever hopeful and full of love. You always wanted to know how everyone was doing, never focusing on the war you were fighting internally. You were an Angel on earth and continue to be one in Spirit. Rest in peace my friend. I know you will be bringing comfort to all of us that are missing you, especially Mike, Kelly and Danny.
Forever in my heart,
Deb Miller

Laura was a fixture in our Shelter Harbor neighborhood, walking or kayaking or chatting with other neighborhoods. She was always smiling, upbeat and kind. Her warmth and positivity were obvious to everyone who met her. She could not have had a more fitting last name; she was no doubt a blessing to her family and friends! Our hearts are with her family at this difficult time.

Laura was a high school Friend. She was always, ALWAYS kind, even as a teenager. The times I got to see her again through reunions and various meet ups she was always full of positivity, always smiling and happy and genuinely just a nice person. My heart hurts knowing she has passed on and know her light will be missed by those close to her and everyone she touched. I hope she is smiling and happy watching from above !

I remember all the Gagnon‘s as our house was just across from them on Heritage Drive. All you girls were beautiful! Laura was the closest to my age. I remember her dating my bro Matt briefly and I don’t know how they broke up. But he sure blew it. She was really a beautiful person inside and out, and I will never ever forget her.

Mike, Dan, and Kelly - my heart goes out to all of you and beautiful Laura. She was a valiant warrior throughout her health battles. She always did thorough research on the best treatments and doctors and she pursued both with a determination to emerge victorious because she had so much to live for - namely, her beloved family. She remained positive, focused, and never gave up or felt sorry for herself. Somehow, through all of her challenges and pain, she also never lost her wonderful sense of humor. Ever since we met, almost 25 years ago, she was one of the easiest people with who I could talk and laugh endlessly whether in person or over the phone. Time nor distance dimmed our friendship and I, along with so many others, will miss her tremendously. I take some semblance of comfort in believing that her loving parents and sweet Lily were there to welcome her home.
Love, Lisa Ryan

I met Laura many many years ago … when I moved to CT in the 8th grade. It’s not easy coming into friends groups who have been together for so many years already .. but I was luckily blessed w/ girls who welcomed me. Laura was 1 of them. I have memories of her & I as if it were yesterday … sooo many laughs sleepovers , heartaches & many teenage growing pains. I will forever think of her when eating an English muffin. She showed me it’s the best with butter. Then peanut butter & jelly. I crave that ever so often & always think of her Another that stands out to me is was summer before our freshmen yr in high school & we were nervous but found out we were in Spanish class together .. we were so happy … but the teacher was not .. needless to say we may or may not have been kicked out of class a couple times for talking & laughing too much. Over the years we lost contact. But recently the past few years rekindled a bit. I’m so blessed we did. I will forever miss you “La Senorita Gagnon” my prayers to your family & friends….

My friendship with Laura began 10 yrs ago & was bonded through our many kayak trips along with her other Shelter Harbor girlfriends. Her grace & positivity were truly an inspiration to me as they were to everyone she knew. A genuine & strongest friend I ever had. It was a privilege to be her friend & to be part of her life. Mike, Kelly, Danny- You were her world, love to you all.

Mike, Daniel and Kelly,
Even though you know how blessed you have been, your whole lives, nothing can comfort this loss right now. But so many of us know how special Laura was, not just for each of you but for all she touched. I hope you keep her deep inspiration in your hearts always.
Laura was a profile in courage, but also in grace and gratitude. That's our job now.
Love,
Jim Bergenn
