Obituary of Veona H. Cashman

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Veona (Hart) Cashman age 95, of East Hartford, CT, on March 8, 2025. Born on March 2, 1930, Veona was a long-time resident of both East Hartford and Glastonbury. She was deeply devoted to her family. She passed surrounded by her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and unconditional love.

Veona was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Robert Cashman and her parents, William and Caroline Hart, Dorothy (Stepmother), her brother, Gordon and her sister, Ardeth. She is survived by her brother, Douglas, and by her six children: Mark Cashman of New York, Traci Constantine of Enfield, Laurene (Douglas) D’Aversa of East Hartford, Lyle (Michelle) Cashman of North Carolina, Shari (Peter) Melillo of New Hartford and Cynthia (Barry) Zorda of Coventry.

Veona is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Stephanie Dumont, Vanessa (Kevin) Barros, Christina Snover, Amanda Constantine, Melissa (James) Sirignano, Michael Constantine, Ryan Maradei, Nathan D’Aversa, Joshua D’Aversa, Joel Cashman and Timothy Cashman. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren: Liena, Vinny, Micah, Charlotte, Grace and Sophia.

Veona was a member of South Congregational Church in East Hartford, where she worked for over 30 years as Bookkeeper for the Nursery and Sunday School.

An avid reader with a thirst for knowledge, Veona had a lifelong passion for reading, whether it was a good mystery novel or a piece of historical fiction.

Calling hours will be on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Veona’s memory to Meals on Wheels where she and her husband volunteered for over 30 years. Though we mourn the loss of Veona, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.
