Obituary of Mike LaPorte

George Michael LaPorte, born May 3, 1955, (formerly of Glastonbury, Connecticut) passed away on February 16, 2025, in Bangor, Maine. A resident of Trenton, Maine, he grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut, the son of George Seymour LaPorte, and Marjorie Jean LaPorte (née Nix). He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Ann McCalmont (née LaPorte).

He preferred to go by his middle name, Mike, and graduated from Vermont Academy in 1973. Mike was a skilled athlete; he played football, hockey, baseball, golf, and was an avid skier and sailor. Mike chose a career in law enforcement and worked as a police officer in Groton Long Point, Connecticut, and later in retail security for Luettgens Limited and the G. Fox Store in Hartford, Connecticut. His work eventually led to private security, and his clients included Lieutenant Colonel Oliver L. North, United States Marine Corps, former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Newt Gingrich and noted radio commentator Rush Limbaugh.

Mike loved spending time with his family and friends, the Boston Red Sox, the New York Giants, and the University of Connecticut Huskies. Above all else, however, Mike adored his family. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Elizabeth Margret Price of Glastonbury, Connecticut and Trenton, Maine, his son, Michael Louis Price LaPorte and his daughter-in-law, Zhanna Rodnova, both of Mount Olive Township, New Jersey, and his sister-in-law, Jo-Anne Price of Ridgefield, Connecticut. He also leaves his brother-in-law, Jim McCalmont, and nieces Molly McCalmont and Kelly McCalmont.

Celebration of Life gatherings will take place in Trenton, Maine, and Connecticut. Friends may call on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will be private in Neipsic Cemetery, Glastonbury. Memory Eternal.
