Obituary of Charles E. Rignall
Charles Edward Rignall, 82, passed away peacefully April 14, 2025, in Hartford, CT. Charlie was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Lorraine Etienne, as well as his beloved cats. He is survived by his niece and nephew, Karen and Eric Rignall; great-niece, Nedjma Kalliney and great-nephew, Zaydan Kalliney. Born on February 24, 1943 to Raymond and Edna Rignall in Kingston, New York, Charlie spent his childhood in New York, Bolivia, and Guatemala. He graduated from Haverford College in Pennsylvania and served in the U.S. Army in Italy, marrying Lorraine in Kingston in 1968. Charlie’s career in information technology in the insurance industry represented just one of his wide-ranging interests; everything from family genealogy to mathematic theory, history, classical music, photography, poetry, cuisine, and the natural world. Charlie and Lorraine travelled extensively, visiting friends and exploring new cultures as they called South Glastonbury their home for nearly 50 years. Although there will be a private family celebration of his life, Charlie would welcome donations in his name to the Sierra Club and World Wildlife Fund, reflecting his commitment to environmental and wildlife conservation. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 12:00 pm in the Hillington Cemetery, Morris, NY. For online condolences, please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
