Obituary of Louis T. Ethier
Louis T. Ethier, 73, of South Glastonbury, husband of the late Jerilyn (Klune) Ethier, died Monday, April 14, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. Born June 10, 1951 in Hartford, son of the late Louis C. and Joyce (Taylor) Ethier, he was a longtime resident of South Glastonbury and he graduated from Glastonbury High School in 1969. He was employed by Buckley & Camp and Lanata’s grocery stores, and then worked for many years for the State of CT Department of Transportation, where he retired as a loader operator. He loved being part of the CT DOT and working with such great colleagues. Louis had a passion for raising animals, specifically Whiteface Herefords, and successfully raised a prized bull in the 60’s and 70’s. Louis enjoyed traveling with his wife to New Hampshire, Vermont, and Pennsylvania, and spending time together browsing tag sales. Louis cared deeply for his family and friends and always took the time to truly get to know the people around him. Louis’ family would like to thank all of his wonderful doctors at Yale and St. Francis Hospitals for all the compassion he received over his 73+ years. Louis is survived by his step-daughter, Alison Smith, his brothers, sisters and their spouses, Joyce and Gary Giannelli, Greg and Mary Ethier, Marcia and Brian Butler, Francis and Gayle Ethier, Elizabeth Ethier, Martin and Denise Ethier, Alison Coon and Brian Yarasheski and Dale and Lori Ethier, and many devoted nephews and nieces. Louis was predeceased by a sister, Faith B. Garvey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:00 am in SS. Isidore and Maria Parish at St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
