Obituary of Kristine K. Brown

Kristine (Kraenzlein) Brown, 76, of South Glastonbury, CT and beloved wife of Richard C. Brown passed away on April 25, 2025.  She was born in Bay City, Michigan where she met Richard while they were in High School and both playing in Orchestra. They moved to South Glastonbury in 1979 where they raised their two children Dan and Carrie.  Kris was a proud educator who had taught Gifted and Talented students in Granby and Windsor CT for 35 years. She loved teaching and had multiple teams of her students in the Knowledge Master Open and also had teams qualify for the International Future Problem Solving Competition.

A talented musician, Kris loved playing the violin and piano.  She also enjoyed working in the yard and tending her garden.  A proud “Gamma”, she loved seeing her granddaughters’ latest artwork and never left the house without wearing their handmade bracelets. And as a dog lover, she was always happy to walk her own dogs and spend time with her children’s dogs.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years Richard; Lieutenant Colonel Daniel R. Brown (US. Army), Nancy Brown, and granddaughters Cora and Vera Brown of Huntsville AL; and daughter Carolyn Lodge and Charles Lodge of South Glastonbury.  She also leaves her wonderful friend Dominique Kimly.

She was pre-deceased by her parents Roy and Frances Kraenzlein and by her younger brother Karl Kraenzlein.

Calling hours will be held 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue in Glastonbury.  A memorial service will be held at a later date in Bay City, Michigan.
