Obituary of Geraldine "Jerry" S. Dean

Geraldine “Jerry” (Moore) Dean of Glastonbury, beloved wife of the late Dr. Lee Wallace Dean III, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025. She was born in Hartford on December 7th, 1936 to the late George and Jessie (Gizma) Moore.

 

Jerry spent her younger years growing up in Rocky Hill before moving to West Hartford. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Connecticut. She had a passion for helping others and volunteered in many institutions for disabled children.

 

Jerry’s hobbies included traveling, reading, music and knitting exquisite sweaters. Her biggest passion was volunteering for the Second Hand Shop in Hebron Avenue in Glastonbury. She started the “memory lane” section and loved doing extensive research into the history and values of various items donated to the shop. Jerry always included a description about the item and the history surrounding it.

 

Jerry is survived by her sister Georgine Villanova and her husband Carl, her 2 daughters, Carol Ann (Candle) French and her husband Tom of Glastonbury and their three children Jason Rich, Christopher French and his wife Bailey and Sarah Thomas and her husband William; Jessica McCoughlin and her husband Mike, Jessica’s children Erin Sassnet and her husband Clint and Julie Fitzgerald.

 

Jerry was also blessed with seven great grandchildren, Isaac, Claire and Ella Rich, Jackson and Maxwell French, and Emilia and Lillian Thomas along with several nieces and nephews. Jerry was also privileged to be the Step Mother to three children, Michael, David and Carol Dean. She also leaves behind her two lifelong friends Estelle Beckerman and Robert Tanguay, along with too many more to name.

 

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 13th at 12 noon in Old Church Cemetery in South Glastonbury. Calling hours will be held prior from 10-11:30 am at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury with a procession to the cemetery to follow.
