Obituary of Judith Fay

We will forever remember Judith (Judy/Jude) A. Fay, 85, of Glastonbury, who passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2025, at The Atrium in Rocky Hill.

Born in Meriden, Connecticut, Judy was the daughter of the late Geraldine Biesak and Frederick Sattler. She was the beloved wife of George F. Fay, Jr.

She grew up in Meriden and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University. Judy met George at Cornfield Point in Old Saybrook when she was just 17, and from that moment on, the two never looked back. No matter where life took her, Judy always found her way back to the classroom, whether as a full-time teacher or a substitute, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of countless children.

Judy was an extraordinary wife, mother, sister, cousin, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend. Her zest for life was evident in everything she did, from her infectious sense of humor to her remarkable list of talents. She was a one-woman powerhouse with an endless list of talents, including being a gourmet chef and baker, a beautiful homecoming queen, a creative artist, an interior decorator, a devoted teacher, a loving mother and wife, a dancing queen, a talented golfer, an age-defying fashionista, and an enthusiastic ukulele player and pianist. She had a talent for turning everyday life into something beautiful, whether it was a home-cooked meal, a bouquet of flowers, hand-made clothing perfectly tailored for her girls, a themed birthday party, a Halloween costume, or an incredibly inviting space in every area of every home she and George lived in. Everything she touched had a bit of magic in it.

She had a knack for making her grandkids laugh with her endless jokes, complete with her favorite catchphrase, “I got a million of ’em, baby!” As a grandmother, she was endlessly nurturing, patient, and present. She always had something to teach, whether it was how to read or bake, draw a portrait, or master a new card game at the kitchen table. Music filled many of the moments she shared with us; she was always singing, often with a ukulele in hand and a smile on her face. She was the best kind of role model: kind, curious, gentle, and full of joy. Her love shaped her grandchildren’s lives in the most lasting, beautiful ways.

Judy is survived by her son, George F. Fay III, and his wife, Pat, of Glastonbury; her two daughters, Jodi Raymond and her husband, Jeff, of Maine; and Jennifer Coletti and her husband, Jamie, of North Carolina. She is also survived by her sister, Jane St. Onge, and her husband, Bill, of Connecticut; her brother, Rick Sattler, and his wife, Sandra, of Connecticut; her sister-in-law, Linda Fay; and her seven beloved grandchildren.

Her Celebration of life will take place at Maria’s Seaside Café in Westerly, RI on August 2, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. For online condolences, please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
