Shirley was my friend. We had been friends for a long time. I met Shirley through her sister, Grace Prete.
Shirley was a kind, compassionate person always concerned about the welfare of her friends and family. She had a quick wit and a wonderful memory which enabled her to share wonderful stories. She would spend the winner with her sister and Tallahassee. They would travel and go on cruises and meet with friends and just generally have a wonderful time together. I was fortunate to be able to spend some of those times with Shirley. She loved to read until her vision prevented her from doing that.. Even though Shirley‘s vision was not great
and her hearing was not great she always maintain a positive attitude. She stayed involved with her friends and family and looked forward to family events. She did not dwell on her limitations, but looked forward to each new day. She was a was an inspiration to me. She was blessed to have her daughter, Joanne and Joanne’s husband, Dave, be to provide her all the love, assistance and care that she needed. She loved her family without reservation.
No doubt she will be missed by all of us who loved her. Heaven has another angel, and I look forward to seeing her again one day.
