I knew a special bond was formed with Neila as soon as I met and mentored her children Ben and Lanisha who were students of mine at Smith Middle School. A woman of Grace, Kindness and Generosity ( as described in her Obituary) as well as being highly knowledgeable about human behavior is what set her apart and above most parents I had the pleasure to work with. She and her beautiful children, along with Andrew, taught me so very much about what was really important in life. Neila lived a good life. She loved so many, and many others loved her. She always gave back more than she'd taken. She faced adversity tragedy, loss and discouragement with an uncanny strength. Most of all, she taught me how to experience the wonder and beauty of the world despite the suffering and cruelty that surrounded us.
While I am deeply saddened by her passing, I am honored to have known her.
