Obituary of James W. Honiss, Sr.

James W. Honiss Sr. passed away with family at his side at Hartford Hospital, on Monday August 4^th 2025.  He was the son of Leon and Catherine Starr Honiss, and husband of 54 years to Louise Wasilewski Honiss. 

James was born in New Britain, Connecticut, and raised in Berlin and East Berlin. James was and a graduate of Wesleyan University and went on to study teaching at Central Connecticut State University. He eventually went on to become a teacher of mathematics, and computer sciences at Glastonbury High School from 1968 to 2008. 

He is survived by his brother John (Greensborough, NC); his three loving sons—James (South Glastonbury, CT), Robert (Manchester, CT), and Thomas (Cambridge, MA); and his devoted wife Louise (Glastonbury, CT).

The family would like to thank the gentle and caring staff of Be Well Care at Home as well as the staff of the Emergency Room at Hartford Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in SS Isidore and Maria Parish at Saint Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Wilcox Cemetery, East Berlin. Calling hours are on Friday, August 8^, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
