Mrs. Doucette, what a wonderful and talented lady. Her smile and laughter lite up a room. I loved being in her presence as she reminded me of my mother, another short French/Canadian lady who was also a great cook and gardener. Both of them were strong, hard working and determined ladies who loved their family more than anything.
Memories
Mrs. Doucette came to our house one day and sat in our swivel rocker. She was looking around, got up and went to care for a plant I had in another room, only to find out that it was a fake. Without hesitation or comment she proceeded onto our deck and proceeded to deadhead my real flowers and then gave me specific instructions on caring for them!
Paul, our children and I will always remember being invited to a summer picnic to enjoy her famous “Spanish Rice” meal. Mr. Doucette would be tending to the largest frying pan I have ever seen on the outside grill. Mrs. Doucette would be giving him specific instructions as she added meatballs, chicken, rice, veggies etc. to the pot, oh, cannot forget “Saffron” among other spices. What a meal, our favorite for sure!
Mrs. Doucette, rest in peace. Sending you all our love!
