Obituary of Lucille Doucette

Lucille (Lucy) Fortin Doucette, 98, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in Estero, FL. Born on March 21, 1927, Lucy was the eldest of 13 children to George and Agnes (Clavette) Fortin of Lille, ME. She was married to the late Roger Cyr Doucette, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Lucy was a devoted mother and grandmother, known for her generosity, kindness, and warmth. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms and made each person feel special. Her love of family was matched only by her passion for creating things with her hands-whether it was making beautiful quilts, crocheting, sewing, or cooking. Her kitchen was a place where magic happened. Lucy's culinary skills were legendary, and she is remembered for her treasured recipes, including her raspberry squares, date squares, pickles, homemade jams, dumplings, famous macaroni salad, and whiskey cake and of course her homemade beans-delights that were passed down with love and enjoyed by many. Before moving to Estero in 2021, Lucy spent many years in West Hartford and Glastonbury, CT, where she made lifelong memories with her family. Her life was one of quiet grace and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Lucy is survived by her three children, Maxine (Gerald) Levasseur of Estero, FL, Daniel (Denise) Doucette of Bonita Springs, FL, and Paula (Gene) Zimmerlink of Bonita Springs, FL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Timothy, Kimberly, Nicole, Daniel Jr., Evan, Madison, and McKenzie, along with nine great- grandchildren who will continue to carry her memory. In addition, Lucy leaves behind her siblings, Aldrie, Edna, Elmer, Lucien, Gilbert, Ivan, Georgianne, and Nelson. She was predeceased by her siblings Rella, Yvonne, Alcide, and Irene. A private graveside memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hope Hospice Houses of Fort Meyers, FL.
