Obituary of Daniel P. Kancler

Daniel ”Danny” Kancler of Glastonbury, beloved husband of the late Barbara (Gondek), married for 66 years, entered into rest September 8, 2025 in Jensen Beach, FL. Born in Hartford, May 20, 1929, he was the son of Peter and Anna (Lankrage) Kancler. He attended Hartford trade school then served in the US Army as a tank mechanic during the Korean War.  Barbara and he settled in Glastonbury where he began his business, MacClain Trucking Co as a partner for 50 years.

Danny will be remembered as a fun, loving, caring husband, father, grandparent, and friend.  Besides his involvement in all family activities, fishing on his “Rum Runner” was his ultimate enjoyment. His garden was second, giving his prime tomatoes to everyone he could. He loved watching the Toyotas run on the Nascar circuit and was a longtime Floridian snowbird.

Danny is survived by his son, Thomas (Susan) of Columbia, CT and Bruce of Jensen Beach, FL, daughter-in-law Pamela of Marlborough, CT, grandchildren, Danny (Christina) Kancler of Boulder, CO, Ashley Kancler of Watertown, MA, Julie Fuller of Colorado Springs, CO, Katherine (Joey) Kaczmarek of Mims, FL, Jennifer Kancler Isaacson (Dana) of Swampscott, MA, and Robert Kancler of Oyster Bay, NY. Great grandchildren, Spencer and Mayli Fuller, Dominic and Devin Kaczmarek, Sloane and Grey Isaacson. He was predeceased by his son Edward Kancler, sisters Lillian Rouse and Felicia Castellani.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 at 10:00 am at SS Isidore and Maria Parish in St Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd, South Glastonbury with burial to follow at St. Augustine cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Glastonbury Fire Department, Station #2, 2155 Main St, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
