Obituary of Aurora Guerrero Accibal
Aurora Guerrero Accibal (née Ney), age 92, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, in Manchester, Connecticut, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on August 21, 1933, in the Philippines, Aurora lived a life marked by resilience, dedication, and unwavering love for her family. She pursued higher education at the Philippines Women’s University School of Pharmacy, where she earned her degree and laid the foundation for a life defined by hard work and purpose.
Aurora was known for her independent spirit and steadfast determination. Those who knew her admired her strength, motivation, and focus—qualities that guided her through every chapter of her life. Her loyalty to her family remained constant throughout the years, and she was a loving presence in their lives until the very end.
Motivated by an independent spirit and a profound desire for new experiences, Aurora emigrated from the Philippines to the United States in 1958, demonstrating both courage and adaptability. A defining moment occurred in 1961 when Aurora, accompanied by her long-time friend, embarked on a cross-country journey along the iconic sunlit highways that stretched across the American landscape. During a stop in Michigan, the two women engaged in conversation with fellow Filipinos, one of whom would eventually become Aurora’s husband of 63 years. This encounter, shaped by spontaneity and openness to the unknown, serves as a vivid illustration of Aurora’s adventurous character and her willingness to embrace transformative life experiences.
She is survived by her devoted husband, “John,” three children, grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Her family was the center of her world, and she nurtured them with care and commitment.
Outside of her professional pursuits and family life, Aurora found joy in gardening. Tending to plants brought her peace and satisfaction, a quiet reflection of the nurturing spirit she extended to those around her. This passion for nurturing life connects deeply with the Filipino tradition of bayanihan, where community help and cooperation are emphasized. Aurora also supported the Roman Catholic Church through charitable donations, reflecting a deep sense of faith and community responsibility. Her dedication to the church was an expression of her devotion, resonating with Filipino cultural values of spirituality and communal support.
Aurora leaves behind a legacy characterized by resilience, unwavering familial devotion, a steadfast commitment to community values, and strength in the face of adversity. Her life serves as a testament to the enduring impact of personal perseverance, cultural heritage, and compassionate engagement with others. The influence of her example will continue to guide and inspire those who were privileged to know her, ensuring that her contributions and values endure across future generations.
