Obituary of Judith B. Knowlton
Judith B. Knowlton, 80, of Hebron, beloved wife of the late Douglas Knowlton, died on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Judith was born on May 17, 1945 in Morristown, NJ to the late Herbert and Helen (Noble) Stevens. A graduate of Tufts University, Judith worked as a physical therapist at several hospitals and home health settings, ending her long career at St Francis Hospital.
A longtime resident of Marlborough, Judith was an active member of the community. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of Tri-M, and very involved in the Episcopal Church, most recently at St James in Glastonbury and St Peters in Hebron. She volunteered as a deacon, mentor and eucharistic minister, providing communion to the homebound.
Judith, a lifelong learner, enjoyed continuous self-education by auditing many ministry courses at local universities and seminaries, in person and online. For relaxation, she enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, many bridge clubs, games, and puzzles.
Judith is survived by her daughters Sandra Dorn and her husband, Chris and Deborah Fitzsimmons and her husband, Ryan, and her grandchildren Sarah Lynn Dorn, Caleb Fitzsimmons, and Tiernan Fitzsimmons, as well as her brothers Jack and Ted Brewster. Besides her husband Doug, she was predeceased by her brother Steven.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 3:00 pm in St. Peter’s Church, 30 Church St., Hebron, CT. A calling hour will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service. Subsequent interment will be attended by immediate family. For online condolences please visit www.mulryanfh.com.
