Obituary of Dorothy H. Preli
Dorothy H. Preli 93, “Dot”, “Dutch”, a long-time resident of South Glastonbury, CT and beloved wife of the late George A. Preli passed on Saturday December 13, 2025 at Middlesex Hospital Hospice after a brief illness.
Dorothy was born in Glastonbury, CT and was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Dziadyk) Halun.
Dorothy spent many years as a diligent worker/secretary working for GF Business Equipment in Hartford as well as an early stint with Pratt & Whitney and Wonder Bread. She delighted in the details of everything and kept amazing records.
Dutch enjoyed her trips down to Florida every winter with her husband “Peck” and especially loved making her awesome spaghetti sauce and spaghetti for the “boys” who came down every year from CT for the Daytona 500. Everyone raved about her spaghetti sauce as well as her lemon squares, applesauce, sour cream cookies and all those wonderful cookies she made at Christmas every year.
In the early years Dutch enjoyed raking in the yard. She loved her home very much and was very proud of it. It showed by the care given to take care of it. Dutch & Peck had lots of parties and invited all the wonderful people from GF as well as many family and friends to enjoy the joyous occasions together. Dutch shared a lifetime friendship with the person she called her “lifelong friend”, Annie Quish, and was able to visit with her a few months back. Annie called Dutch everyday to check on her. A good friend always.
Dutch took care of everyone…including her little sister Mary from the age of 4 as well as her parents and siblings. She was a very independent woman and was confident in what she was capable of. She was an amazing dancer. She had a bit of a dry sense of humor and knew more than she let on. Her heart was good.
There were many “helpers” over the years but we want to send a big shout out to Gary Schultz, Dorothy’s nephew for all the help he provided to both Dutch and Peck.
Dorothy leaves behind her three children, Cheryl A. Preli of Newington, George A Preli Jr and his wife Valerie of Plainville, Donna Preli and her partner Michele Camerato of Wallingford as well as her sister-in-law Elaine Fortier of South Glastonbury and numerous nieces and nephews.
