My thoughts and love are with you all. So much fun growing up with the Halladay kids(now the old generation!!) - our adventures on Newfane Hill, swimming in your pool in Turners Falls, seems like I might remember sneaking into the drive-in a time or two, watching Butch/Verne in the Thanksgiving football games, Verne and I and our friends hung out at the pizza place in Greenfield, and who could forget the Mother enforced naps forced on us in Monument Beach on the Cape when the Mothers gave us that book of what they thought were proper poems to read ourselves to sleep! Not proper, a bit racy for the time, helped us to not mind naptime so much. “There was a young lady named O’Dell, Who, while going down Chestnut Street, fell! she got up with a bound, Looked all around and exclaimed in a deep voice, “Oh, Hell!!”” Today’s kids wouldn’t blink at it but we felt like we were taking a trip to the Dark Side! Verne was one of the best and the world is a better place because he was here.

I remember Mr. Halladay as a man who was always laughing or making a joke. He was the type of person who would drop everything to help someone in need. As an example, I remember when i was that person in need. I got a flat tire on White Street and he came to help me quicker than my own father. I will never forget him running down the street with the jack in hand and completely out of breath while laughing. I can see him right now in heaven trying to help them out and making everyone laugh.
