Obituary of Irene J. Adamson
Irene J. Adamson, cherished wife of the late George P. Adamson, passed away at Manchester Memorial, CT Hospital on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025. Irene was born in New London, CT on September 19th, 1931 to the late Al and Stella Radziwanowicz. She was predeceased by her brothers Al Randall and Len “Rad” Radziwanowicz.
Irene will be sadly missed by her children: Judith Santostefano (Mark), Jeffrey Adamson, Diane Adamson (Russell), Mary Tracey, (Jeff), Ken Adamson, Thomas Adamson (Theresa). Irene was predeceased by her daughter Catherine in 2000 her daughter-in-law Karen in 2019. “Grandma”, “Nana”, “Gigi” will be missed by her 13 grandchildren (their spouses), and 6 great grandchildren, as well as her sister-in-law, Marge (Joe) and her nieces and nephews and their children.
Irene graduated from The Williams School, New London, CT and from Hartford Hospital School of Nursing. She continued her nursing career until 1954 when she and George began their family. Irene and George enjoyed playing bridge with neighbors and friends, social events at The Woodledge pool club and their summer place in Westerly, RI.
Our mom was a gracious woman who loved her years in the Garden Club, gave to us a love of the beach, lobster and above all, family. A voracious reader and she completed her crossword puzzles in ink! A devout follower of UCONN basketball, Jeopardy, and Dancing with the Stars.
The family would like to thank the nursing and hospice staff at the Manchester Memorial Hospital. As well as the staff at The Arbors at Hop Brook, Manchester.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11:00 am at SS. Isidore and Maria Parish in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will be private. Friends may call on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
