Obituary of Joseph Salvia

Joseph Salvia of Manchester, Connecticut passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026 at the age of 88. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a man who will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and generosity of spirit.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Marion, his seven children and spouses: Lenora Perfetto, Camille Perfetto, Maria Elaina DiFalco and her husband Francesco, Elaina Scarazzini and her husband George, Michael Salvia, as well as Joseph and Gina Salvia. He was also a cherished grandfather to Michael Perfetto, Kristina Sciortino and her husband Thomas, Kevin DiFalco, Dylan DiFalco, George Scarazzini, Angelina Scarazzini, and Marceline Perfetto-Roldan and loved by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Born on October 20, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, Joseph built a life centered on family, perseverance, and connection. He was a United States Army veteran who served during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Waikiki, Hawaii. He often shared stories from his service, including the many adventures of “Private Silvia” and the unforgettable experience of seeing Elvis Presley perform, a memory he held dear.

A graduate of Manhattan College with a degree in Finance, Joseph held a variety of professions throughout his life, reflecting both his strong work ethic and adaptability. He worked as a Correction Officer, a skilled machine shop operator, and even gained experience in the area of specialty finishing and restoration, but no matter what role he had, he was known for his diligence, reliability, and the pride he took in his work.

Joseph was also deeply social and well loved by friends and family alike. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, and filling rooms with laughter. A lover of Frank Sinatra and classic black-and-white films, he had a gift for storytelling and an infectious sense of humor. He was also known for helping others trace their family histories, generously researching genealogy and uncovering meaningful connections to the past.

Joseph Salvia will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful man, a loyal friend, and a guiding presence to many. His legacy of love, laughter, and quiet wisdom will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace.
