
Obituary of Veronica W. Longo
Veronica (Wajda) Longo, 78, of Columbia passed away Saturday, March 14. She is survived by Paul Longo, her loving husband of 56 years.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut on June 13, 1947 to parents Anastasia and Adam Wajda, she attended UCONN, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in 1969 and her master’s in 1975 in teaching. She stayed at home for several years to raise her children, eventually returning to teaching, where she taught at Bolton Elementary School for almost 30 years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Kane and her husband Timothy, and Stacey Longo and her partner Matthew. She is also survived by two grandsons, Nathan and Evan Kane, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Joanne Oblinger and Stephanie Lombardo.
Veronica remained an avid Huskies fan her whole life, never missing a women’s basketball game.
Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Saint Francis Hospital Cardiac ICU.
