Obituary of Margaret Ann Beach

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Margaret Ann Beach, of South Glastonbury, CT and Niantic, CT. On the evening of April 4th, 2026, at 7:00 PM, Margaret peacefully left this world, surrounded by the warmth and love of her entire family.

Margaret was born on October 1, 1938, in Seneca Falls, New York, to Harvey Amidon and Alice Yoder Amidon. She was one of 11 children, and she carried the love of that large family with her throughout her life.

She went on to attend Oswego State University, where she earned her degree in Education, launching a fulfilling early career as an elementary school teacher — a vocation that reflected her natural warmth and gift for nurturing others.

Margaret Ann was a woman of unwavering faith, whose life was a testament to her devotion and grace. She passed peacefully on Easter weekend, a poetic and fitting farewell for a soul so deeply connected to her faith.

Her later years were devoted entirely to the people she loved most. Her world revolved around her family and husband — her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren — as well as the many lives she touched through her church and community.

Margaret is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Douglas Beach, her daughters, Karen Forbes of Groton, Massachusetts, and Ami Beach and her husband Mark Shadle of Durham, Connecticut; her grandchildren, Quintin Forbes and his wife Catherine of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Nathaniel Forbes and Jacqueline Forbes of Groton, Massachusetts; and her three beloved great-grandchildren, Theodore, Margaret and Mary Forbes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Alice Amidon; her first born daughter, Alice Cheryl; and her siblings: Lewis, Gordon, Jean, Jack, George, Nina Elizabeth, Barbara, Alyce, Harry, and Jimmy.

She is also survived by the spouses of her late siblings: Ron Erickson, husband of the late Alyce, Patsy Amidon, wife of the late Harry; and Connie Soward, wife of the late Jimmy.

Margaret Ann’s memory will be forever cherished, and we find comfort in knowing she is at peace, watching over all those she held so dear.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 11:00 am at SS. Isidore and Maria Parish in St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd., South Glastonbury. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
