Obituary of Fuhua Ma

Fuhua Ma, 50, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Chunxia Chen, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. His love, resilience, and spirit will remain with us forever.

Fuhua was born on November 8th, 1975, in Tianmen, Hubei, China, to Baishu Ma and Xinzhi Wu. As the youngest of four children, he grew up surrounded by family and carried that deep sense of love throughout his life.

In 1992, he began his studies in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), where he met the love of his life, Chunxia, whom he married in 1999. After graduating from USTC, Fuhua continued his education at Penn State University, where he earned his Ph.D.

Fuhua built a distinguished career, beginning at CD-adapco in 2007, then at GE Global Research Center in 2008. In 2011, he joined Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, where he worked for 14 years, contributing his talent and intellect to the field he loved.

Beyond his accomplishments, Fuhua will be remembered most for the person he was. He believed deeply in self-improvement, always striving to become a better version of himself, even in the smallest ways. He lived life with curiosity and wonder, with a fascination for aerospace, the universe, and its philosophies.

He loved his family with all his heart. Whether doing yard work, hiking outdoors, traveling together, or simply spending quiet time at home, those moments brought happiness to him. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing the piano and the Chinese violin(erhu), singing, as well as staying active through soccer and badminton.

As a father, he was patient, thoughtful, and devoted. He spent countless hours teaching his children. He wanted nothing more than to see them grow into strong, thoughtful, and successful individuals.

Fuhua lived a life defined by intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a deep love for self-improvement.

In addition to his beloved wife, Chunxia, he is survived by his son, Kevin; his daughter, Karen; and his siblings, Maohua Ma, Jinxiu Ma, and Maixiu Ma.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 15 at 12:00 noon at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service.
