Obituary of James Edward Paternostro, Sr.
James Edward Paternostro Sr., born April 25th, 1959, passed away April 23rd, 2026, two days before his 67th birthday. His wife, Jennifer, children, James Jr., Sarah, and William, and Sarah’s spouse, Michael were with him.
James’ early years were spent with his parents, Donald Paternostro and Carol Schmidt, siblings David and Donna and his close family, Uncle Mike and Aunt Joan Yetishefsky, and cousins, Mickey, Kerry, and Matt in Glastonbury, Connecticut.
In 1970, he first met Jennifer who would become his wife and life partner 17 years later. James & Jennifer went on to have 3 children who became their life; where summers were spent boating as a family in Mystic, CT, winters were spent taking turns hopping in James’ truck for snow plowing routes, and throughout the year hearing, seeing, and learning about his old and new creations as a life long mason contractor.
James loved spending his time with family, supporting his children at sporting events, watching his grandchildren grow up, making others laugh through his profound sense of humor, playing cards, storytelling, boating and fishing, cheering on the UConn Huskies and NY Giants, and being the voice of reason or the person who was always one phone call away for all those in his life.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jennifer Paternostro, his three children, James Jr. and wife Victoria Paternostro, Sarah and husband Michael Cronan, and William Paternostro, his grandchildren, Annabelle, Carter, Jennifer, and Joseph Paternostro, Gianna Royer, his mother, Carol Schmidt, his siblings, Donna and spouse David Logan and David and spouse Barbara Paternostro, he also leaves behind an uncle, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews and predeceased by his father, Donald Paternostro, and his Uncle, Michael Yetishefsky.
