Obituary of Thomas M. Hanley

Thomas “Tom” Hanley, 77, of Glastonbury, Connecticut, beloved husband of Cheryl (Jorgensen) Hanley, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026 at Apple Rehab and Nursing Home in Rocky Hill.

Tom dedicated 36 years to education as a technical education teacher in Simsbury.

During his tenure, he also served as the school system’s printer, a role that reflected his skill, reliability, and commitment to supporting the broader school community. Upon his retirement from teaching, Tom spent eight years working at Lowe’s in Manchester.

Tom was an avid sports fan. He especially loved baseball, was a loyal New York Yankees supporter, and enjoyed coaching Little League in Glastonbury, sharing his enthusiasm for the game with young players. He and Cheryl also enjoyed attending UConn and Connecticut Sun basketball games, and treasured outings at the Goodspeed Opera House.

Above all, Tom was devoted to his family. He and his family spent many summers camping across the country, always accompanied by their beloved cats—a testament to his deep love for animals. These trips created lasting memories filled with laughter, adventure, and togetherness.

Known for his great sense of humor, Tom brought warmth and laughter to those around him. His kindness, generosity, and love for family, animals, and community will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
