Obituary of Mary Louise Joslin
Mary Louise (Cushing) Joslin, 85, of Manchester, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that guided her throughout her life.
Born on February 3, 1941, in Providence, Rhode Island, Mary was the daughter of Joseph Allen Cushing and Kathryn Louise Cushing. The eldest of five, she was raised in Scituate, Rhode Island, and graduated from Scituate High School in 1958.
Mary spent many years working as a travel agent in Manchester, helping others create lasting memories through travel. Outside of her career, she found her greatest purpose in caring for others. A lifelong member of St. Bridget Church, she dedicated countless hours to charitable causes and was known for her generosity, compassion, and willingness to help anyone in need. A true champion for the underdog, Mary quietly and selflessly gave her time, energy, and resources to support others whenever she could.
Above all else, Mary was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend who always placed the needs of others before her own. She lovingly cared for her husband, sister, and brother during their times of need, offering comfort and unwavering support. Proud of her Irish heritage, Mary instilled in her family the values of loyalty, resilience, and faith.
Mary was known for her remarkable strength and determination. Despite facing many challenges throughout her life, she met each one with grace, perseverance, and an enduring sense of hope. She took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home and had a special passion for decorating. She was also a devoted Democrat, an advocate for causes she believed in, and shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Toodaloo, whom she loved with all her heart.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Joslin; her son, Robert A. Joslin Jr.; her brother, Joseph Allen Cushing; and her sisters, Kathleen Cushing and Anne Matthews.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn J. D'Addabbo and her husband Mark; her daughter-in-law, Therese L. Joslin; her sister, Patricia Osterhout; and her cherished grandchildren, Harrison Joslin, Alexandra D'Addabbo, Olivia Joslin and Mark Coholan D'Addabbo II.
Mary’s legacy of generosity and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her kindness touched countless lives, and her example of compassion and selflessness will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of her family and friends.
