Obituary of Alice Doreen Blais
Alice Blais, 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on June 2, 2026 in Middletown, Connecticut. Born on April 10, 1937, in Stanstead, Quebec, Canada, Alice lived a full life marked by dedication to her family.
Alice built a successful career as a financial investment officer at the former Fleet Bank. Her professional acumen and kind nature left a lasting impression on her colleagues and clients alike. Beyond her work, Alice was known for her warm smile that she shared generously with family, friends, and neighbors.
In her leisure time, Alice found joy in intellectual pursuits, creative hobbies, and caring for her beloved cats. She was an avid reader who enjoyed playing Scrabble and solving crossword puzzles. During her years of good health, she delighted in both playing and watching tennis and spent many happy hours working on needlepoint and other crafting projects. Her family will fondly remember her Christmas tourtières, as well as the tradition of wearing paper crowns from Christmas poppers. Most of all, Alice cherished time spent with family and loved looking through photographs of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alice is survived by her daughters, Karen Borkowski Surine (Scott), and Elaine Tavani (Art), her sons Norman Blais and Daniel Blais. She also leaves her grandchildren, Joe Borkowski, Lauren Borkowski (Matt), Joelle vanWilligen (Cal), Matthew Tavani (Katrina), Rachel Gardiner (Tom) and Lucas Blais, her great-grandchildren, Jordi, Alfie, Mason and Tripp, and her siblings Kathleen Alger (Bob), Bill Middleton (Sharon), Richard Middleton (Linda) Thomas Middleton (Dian) and Alfred Middleton (Thelma). She will also be remembered fondly by those who knew her throughout her life, including her many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Alice was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Inez Middleton, her siblings, Gladys Haskell, Ted Middleton, Eileen Roy and Winifred Wright whom she will join in eternal peace.
May the cherished memories of Alice bring comfort to all who mourn her passing. A service of remembrance will be held privately.
