Obituary of Carol B. Grogan

Carol Bletzer Grogan passed away peacefully with her four children by her side on June 10, 2026.

Born in Hartford April 8, 1938, Carol was raised in Windsor, moving to Glastonbury during her high school years.  While at GHS Carol fully involved herself in the social life.  After graduating in 1957 she met the love of her life, Paul.  They married in August of 1958 and made their life long home in South Glastonbury raising their four children and many well loved pets.  Carol worked at the apple orchards in East Glastonbury, she also enjoyed selling tickets at many GHS football, wrestling and basketball games as well as driving a school van for the town of Glastonbury.  She especially enjoyed spending much time at her camp in the Berkshires, gardening, reading, crafting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  A favorite pastime was also getting into mischief with her good friend, Barbara.

Carol was predeceased by her parents Arthur & Agnes (Jerry) Bletzer, her Uncle Ken & Aunt Gert Burnham and her husband of 62 years, Paul Grogan.

She is survived by her children, Lisa & Lee Shaw of Hampton, NH; Paul Jr & Kim (Williams) of Hyde Park, VT; Jeffrey & Lynn (Lewis) of Hyde Park, VT and Kelly & Dave Clarke of Glastonbury, CT.  Her grandchildren Jeremy (Megan) Shaw, Spencer Shaw, Caleb (Hannah) Shaw, Kasey Shaw; Cara (Bri) Grogan, Michael (Nicole) Grogan; Maire, Aine, Bridget and Kevin Clarke and great grandchildren Owen, Carter, Nora & Alden Shaw, Callum Grogan and expected baby boy Grogan.

We want to thank the staff at Livewell for their exceptional care the last five years.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the CT chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association or Livewell of Plantsville, CT.
