Obituary of Judith S. Ericson

Judy S. Ericson, of Glastonbury CT, beloved wife of Jay Ericson, passed away on Saturday, June 20th, 2026, after a hard fought 23-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born in Oreland Pennsylvania on July 28th, 1950, to James and Beatrice Manis.

Judy graduated from Drexel University with a master’s degree in nutrition. She was a long-time employee at Cigna.

Judy’s glass was always half full. She was devoted to family & friends. She shared her wisdom not through grand speeches, but in the quiet moments — teaching patience in the garden, kindness at the dinner table, and resilience in the face of life’s storms. Her recipes, stories, and gentle guidance will continue to nourish all who were fortunate enough to learn from her. It made her so happy when she passed on her mother’s sewing machine to her granddaughter Layla, who was enthusiastic to learn to sew. Judy also enjoyed baking with Layla, her signature carrot cake, adorned as a bunny at Easter, July 4th flag cake, Christmas cookies…you name it. Though she is no longer with us, the lessons she instilled remain a compass for our lives, ensuring her spirit will guide us for generations to come.

In her free time, she loved tending to her garden and flowers, taking long walks wherever the path would take her, sending thoughtful messages of her unwavering love and support, but nothing made her happier than gathering her extended family together for birthdays and holidays.

Besides her husband of 46 years, Jay, Judy leaves behind her daughter Jamie and son-in law Chad Wilson, granddaughter Layla, and her grandpup Charlie. She also leaves behind her sisters Barbara (Ron) Gots & Katherine (Jan) Wenstrup, as well as many nieces and nephews. Judy was predeceased by her twin sister Jane.

If you knew Judy, you knew an angel on earth.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 9th at 11:30 AM in Saint Dunstan Catholic Church, 1345 Manchester Road, Glastonbury. There will be no calling hours.
