Obituary of Carole G. Vullo

Carole Gerard Vullo, 89, of Glastonbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. Carole was the daughter of John Lewis Gerard and Mary Gerard. She was born in 1936 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, where she attended local schools and excelled in field hockey in high school. Carole pursued her training in the X-ray technician program at Albany Medical College, beginning her career at Yale New Haven Hospital and later serving with the Department of Public Health in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1960, she married Salvatore Vullo, and they were married for 66 years. Together they made their home in Glastonbury, raised their family, and worked side-by-side for 15 years as owners of Sal's Evergreen nursery. Over those years, many customers became lifelong friends. Carole and Sal especially cherished time with their family at their beach house in Westerly, Rhode Island, where they built a lifetime of special memories. Carole was a superior cook, known throughout the family and community for her delicious pot roast and her wonderful spaghetti and meatballs. She loved to entertain, and her kitchen table was always full of laughter, good food, and compliments. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, her beautiful green eyes, her high energy, and the warmth that made her well-liked by everyone who knew her. A lifelong animal lover, Carole shared her home with many beloved dogs over the years, with a special fondness for Cairn Terriers and Airedale Terriers.

Carole leaves her beloved husband of 66 years, Salvatore Vullo; her two daughters, Sally Vullo and Robin Pugliese and her husband Glenn Pugliese; her sister Barbara Pardus and her husband William Pardus of Rhode Island; two cherished grandchildren, Anthony Salvatore Pugliese and John Michael Pugliese, all of Glastonbury; and several nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the dedicated aides whose compassionate care over the past three and a half years made it possible for Carole to remain at home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 11:00 am at SS. Isidore and Maria Parish in St. Paul Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will be private.
