Obituary of Joseph Douglas Glazier

Joseph Douglas (JD) Glazier, 27, of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 25, 2026 while in Florida.  He suffered from a short bout with sepsis.  JD was predeceased by his sister Kali Mansfield (Glazier), Aunt Sandy Thomas, and a few grandparents.  He leaves behind, to carry on his love, his mother Tricia Preston and his stepfather Jason of Illinois, his father Michael Glazier and stepmother Alma, sisters Mackenzie and Rebecca Glazier, Lily Preston and his brother Todd Preston, his grandmother Gerry Glazier.  He also leaves behind 3 step-siblings and many loving cousins as well as a lot of other loving family and friends.

JD grew up between Jerseyville Illinois, St. Loius, Mo and Glastonbury CT. He attended Jerseyville High School in Jerseyville Ill, where he truly found his love of cars.  Prior to graduating school JD was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and over the course of the next few years received chemotherapy, radiation and eventually a Car-T Cell transplant which saved his life.  Unfortunately, the cancer had taken a toll on his body and had caused him to have vision loss in one eye and significant issues with his thyroid, pituitary and frequent headaches.  Ultimately, these deficiencies left his body unable to combat the infections and organ failure that quickly took him from us.  However, we are very proud of the fight he put up for the last 10 years.

JD had many passions that he loved to share with those around him.  JD and his friends were into cars and he loved whatever car show he could find.  Fishing with his family, duck hunting, and one of his biggest passions was helping Glastonbury Youth and Family Services with their yearly summer play.  He was an integral part of the set construction and had been doing so for around 16 years.  It was something he looked forward to every summer when he was visiting and then especially when he moved to CT.

JD will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all that came in contact with him.  In lieu and any flowers, we ask for donations to any of the below listed places which were dear to JD.

A memorial service will be on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 10:00 am at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Glastonbury following the service.
