Obituary of Salvatore A. Carnemolla

Salvatore Angelo Carnemolla is once again dancing with his beloved Karen. Born in Hartford on July 2, 1945, to Carmelo and Sebastiana, Salvatore loved telling everyone stories about growing up on Front Street and Buckingham Avenue during the glory days of his youth. After graduating from Hartford High School, Sal joined the U.S. Army, where he served for two years, notably at Fort Ord in California.

Upon his return to Connecticut, he was introduced to Karen on a blind date, and within two years, they were married. They raised their children, Shannon and Dana, in Glastonbury while he worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2004 from his route in Elmwood.

Sal was often found in the neighborhood with his German Shepherd, Emmy, puttering in the garden, or at his favorite breakfast place, Mitchell’s, in Rocky Hill. In 2015, Sal was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease and, like his siblings before him, went on dialysis and learned that the kidney diet is ridiculous.

He missed Karen very much, and on Monday, August 10, 2026, he joined her once again.

Sal was predeceased by his siblings, Jeni and Michael, and is survived by their children, Salvatore, Carmen, Lori, Lisa, and Michael, and their families; his cousins, the Gentiles, Rossis, and Petrellas; and his extended family, the Pontillos and Mathers.

Shannon and Dana would like to thank DaVita Rocky Hill, in particular Dr. Matthew Carley, for all the support he and his team provided to Sal and his family over the last 11 years, as well as Sal’s VA home-based team.

In honor of Sal, dance with your loved ones, eat all your favorite foods, and pet your fur babies whenever they—or you—need a cuddle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Road Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury.  Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury.
