Obituary of Irene Rice

Irene M. (Palatine) Rice, 87, of Southbury, died Sunday August 12, 2012 in the Inglemoor Rehab and Care. Born May 30, 2925 in Waterbury, daughter od the late Renard L. and Julia (Claffey) Palatine, she had lived in Southbury for the past 25 years. Irene graduated from high school in Waterbury, attended Mary Washington and had worked in research in the lab at Duke University. She was a volunteer for many years for the Women's Industrial League in Boston and was treasurer of the Civic Symphony in Boston. Irene is survived by 4 daughters and their husbands; Alison and Myles Edwards of NJ, Bettina and Jim Hackett of RI, Melissa Gervais of AZ, Sarah and Michael Patt of MA., a brother Richard Palatine and his wife Joan of South Glastonbury, a daughter-in-law Tina Rice of IL. and 9 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Arthur Rice. The family would like to thank the staff at Inglemoor Rehab and Care in Livingston, NJ for the wonderful care given to Irene. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday August 17 at 11am in Sacred Heart Church , Southbury. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Southbury. There are no calling hours.
