Dear Bonnie and family,
I was so very sorry to hear about Everett's passing. I can understand the pain and sorrow that you and your family are going through, having been through this myself, I know it sound trite, but it will get easier as time passes.
I find it helpful in times of deepest sorrow to think about how much better our loved ones are doing now that they are in Heaven. I like to imagine that Heaven is a place where we are reunited with all the old friends and family we love that have left this life before us, a place where we are healthy, happy and ageless.
I wanted to share with you an item that I found in the newspaper recently, titled “Tackle Adversity, Hoda style” by Hoda Kotb.
1. Surround yourself only with people who fill you up. Get rid of the toxic ones.
2. Don’t sweat the little stuff—90% of what you worry about won’t happen.
3. If you’re still standing after surviving an illness or the death of a loved one or whatever your cross to bear is, you get four words: You Can’t Scare Me. Use them.
4. Don’t hog your journey; share it to help others.
5. Allow yourself dark days to stay under the covers watching Law & Order reruns and eating junk food.
I also wanted to pass along a poem that has given me a great deal of comfort when faced with the loss of a loved one.
“ Peace Be Thine”
God saw the road getting rough;
the hill was hard to climb.
He gently closed his loving eyes,
and whispered “Peace Be Thine!”
The weary hours and days of pain,
the sleepless nights are past!
The ever patient worn out frame
has found Sweet Rest at last.
