Obituary of Nancy A. DeLong

Nancy A DeLong, 62, of Glastonbury CT passed away July 11, 2018. She was born September 22, 1955 in Reading, PA to William Marsh DeLong and Jane Eaches DeLong. She is survived by her daughters Carolyn J. Dugas, Asheville, NC and Alison M. Dugas, Pasadena, CA; her sister Marsha DeLong Egan, wife of Robert A. Egan, Nantucket MA; her uncle, David D. DeLong, Wyomissing, PA, and several cousins. Nancy was raised in Bowers, PA, attended Kutztown High School, graduated from Duke University in 1977, and was awarded her MBA from UConn in 1990. She started DeLong Associates and served as its president and CEO for over 25 years, having previously worked with Credit Life of Springfield, Celtic Life Insurance, and National Central Bank. Very active in her communities, she was a member of the Junior League of Reading, PA ; Junior League of Hartford, CT;  Delta Delta Delta – Hartford Chapter; Duke GEN, Hartford Coordinator; Duke University Alumni Club of Hartford, President; March of Dimes of Reading PA, President; Crystal Cave, Director;  March of Dimes, Reading, PA, Chairman; Flint Hill Water Company, Director; Professional Ski Instructors of America, member; Ski Instructor, Hahn Mtn. Kempton, PA;  Ski Instructor, Powder Ridge, CT;  Ski Instructor, Mt. Southington, CT;  Mt. Laurel Ski Club; Flying Dutchmen Ski Club ; Glastonbury Town Center Initiative, Director;  Assn. Of  Financial Insurance Brokers; Connecticut Community Bankers;  Independent Insurance Agents of CT(IIAC); Girl Scouts of America, Leader and First Class Scout; Glastonbury Arts;  American Watercolor Society; Windhill Community Farm. She loved gardening, cooking, baking, painting, skiing, biking and entertaining. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Glastonbury Bike Trail Fund, Windhill Farm, Marlborough Congregational Church, New Britain Museum of American Art, Hartford Home Healthcare, Inc - Hospice, or Christ DeLongs UCC, Bowers,PA. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00PM, Friday, July 13, at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury, CT. The funeral service will follow the next day at 11:00 at Marlborough Congregational Church, 35 S. Main St. Marlborough, CT. Burial will be private.
