Obituary of Victoria Tecusan

Victoria Tecusan, 101, of Glastonbury died Tuesday July 30, 2018 at Hartford Hospital.

Victoria was born in Alliance, OH.  Her parents came to US from Romania at the beginning of the century like many immigrants to work here and make enough money to go back and buy land.  Victoria returned with her family to Romania around 1921 where she got married to Gheorghe Tecusan in 1940.  Shortly after marriage she was offered the chance to return to US however her husband couldn’t go with her unless he followed the proper immigration process.  So she decided to stay and had 2 daughters, Nineta and Georgeta. They lived in a small town in Transilvania for the next 30 years, 20 minutes away from Dracula’s castle. When the first grandkids were born she moved to Bucharest in 1969 where she lived until returning to US in 1991.  During that time she helped raise 5 grandkids:  Bianca Stanescu, Andrea Stanescu, Alexandru Artemie, Eugen Artemie, and Cristian Artemie.  Since moving to US she was also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren Selina Soule, Alex Artemie, Laura & Andrew Artemie, and Paul Artemie.  She was the godmother at her younger sister’s wedding, Susana and Emil Zorca and was involved in the lives of their children and grandchildren as well, Emil and Cornelia, Valentin and Gabriela, Suzi, Nelli and Serban and their families. She was always the center of the family, always preparing special dishes for everyone when visiting.  Everyone loved her “gogosi” and especially the crepes. She was part of our extended family for such a long time that it felt like she would be there forever.  Her smile will always live with us forever. Funeral service will be Friday August 3, 2018 at 12 noon in the Holy Transfiguration Church, 2 Winter St., Manchester. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Thursday August 2 from 6-8pm.
