Obituary of Peter F. Draghi

Peter F. Draghi, 84, of  South and East Windsor, passed peacefully on August 10. Born May 24, 1934 in Hartford, son of the late Angelo and Guiseppina (Scaglia) Draghi.  He is survived by his beloved wife Phyllis Draghi, his son Gary W. Draghi and his spouse Bertrand of South Windsor, brother Gino and (Sandra) Draghi of South Glastonbury, sister-in-law Margaret Draghi of South Glastonbury, two stepdaughters Suzanne Bedell of Glastonbury, Deborah Bailey (John) of Columbia, three step-grandchildren, Lindsey Bedell of Boston, Rory Bedell and fiancée Anna Podolsky of Uncasville, Ann Bailey and husband Aron of Reykjavik, Iceland, a great granddaughter Mazzy Bedell and her brother Ezra and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Lawrence, Joseph “Aldo”, Nathan, Edward, Andrew, David and a sister Louise Maluzzi, step-son James Darby, Jr. and step son-in-law Frank Bedell. Pete served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959 and was stationed at Walter Reed Medical Center as a military police. Pete farmed for 32 years with his brother Dave as co-owners of Draghi Brother’s Fruit Growers in South Glastonbury. After retirement from Draghi Brother’s he and his wife Phyllis moved to Zionsville, PA and restored and made a beautiful orchard there before moving back to CT to start Draghi Farms in South Windsor to keep himself  busy. The family wishes to thank all of the caring staff at Brookdale-Buckingham for their comfort, compassion, love and friendship. Funeral service will be Tuesday Aug 14 at 11am in the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 2183 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, South Glastonbury. Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Monday Aug. 13 from 5-8pm.
