Dear Karly I’m so sorry for your loss but please know that there is hope - John 5:28,29 says that 'all those in the memorial tombs will come out'. This verse has brought me and my family so much comfort and hope for the future resurrection so I want to share it hoping it brings you some comfort during this sad time as well.

I was sadden to hear of the passing of Zirk. He was one of a kind, and I am honored to have flown with him at the 6th MAS. Carl was my instructor, and he made learning to be a Loadmaster interesting and fun.
May the good Lord give you comfort and strength in in this time of sorrow.

The Storm King School sends our sincere condolences.
The following will be shared with his classmates with the notice of his passing.
Zirk, (as he was known) was a four-year student who played soccer, lacrosse and hockey, earning a pentagonal award for Storm King School athletics. Athletic Director Richard Broughton '54 said he was a fine fullback on the talented and successful 1971 soccer team, and he was also a Prefect in The Cottage, and a good student. Classmates recall him as a loyal, generous and gentle person, and an avid pool player. At a recent Reunion Weekend, Carl said that he loved SKS and and had good memories of his time at the the school.

Carl was my first roommate at the Storm King School back in 1967. We spent four years ttogether at that school. He was a full of life individual who was a blast to have around. Zirk as we called him was a major part of our class of '71. I ran into him several times in later years and it was always as if no time had past. He will be missed. RIP my old friend. My condolences to his family on losing someone who truly knew how to live a full life.

A very sad day to learn of Zirk's passing. Carl was one of the few four year students at Storm King School. A poet of some renown. My roommate for at time during our second year and a very good friend, my drinking buddy when he was stationed at McGuire AFB, co-house flipper before the term was made popular, a very talented carpenter and builder (who did not need plans....what he envisioned he built).
A gentle soul for such a large man, matched only by his generosity for those who needed help.
You will be in my thoughts as well as in those who were fortunate to know you.
Rest in peace my friend.
DOUG BURG, SKS '71
